Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical and Instrument Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline of long-term projects in the water, hydrogen, and energy sectors. This is a hands-on role for a motivated engineer who enjoys working across feasibility, front-end engineering, detailed design, and construction support phases. You will contribute to a portfolio of water and wastewater projects supporting utilities across the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in projects from concept through delivery in the water sector
- Oversee and approve electrical and control engineering deliverables across the design lifecycle
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project stakeholders
- Develop electrical load schedules and specify instrumentation, telemetry, and motor control centres
- Prepare scopes for subcontract installation and conduct technical bid evaluations
- Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities as required
- Ensure compliance with national and international engineering standards
- Promote safety, sustainability, and best engineering practices
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution
- Strong design background in electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (EICA) within water or wastewater projects
- Recent experience reviewing and approving documentation for construction
- Knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED
- Skilled in managing risk, safety, and quality in project delivery
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
