An established engineering organisation is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support major transmission and distribution projects in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-value infrastructure programmes while developing your career within a growing project portfolio and a clear pathway toward Principal Engineer level.

You will play a key role in detailed design and construction support, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and high‑quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver detailed Protection and Control design under an agreed design authority
  • Interpret technical specifications and prepare engineering documentation and Bills of Quantities
  • Review supplier quotations and ensure alignment with technical and project requirements
  • Produce and check design calculations, drawings, and secondary system designs
  • Participate in design reviews, verification processes, and design risk assessments
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and support external designers to ensure quality delivery
  • Support construction and commissioning teams with specialist input on substation automation and secondary systems
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are compliant and buildable
  • Mentor and support junior engineers through technical review and knowledge sharing
Requirements
  • Proven experience delivering electrical design for high-voltage transmission systems (up to 400kV or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of protection schemes, substation automation, and secondary systems
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments
  • Ability to engage effectively with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Practical, safety-focused approach to engineering delivery with commercial awareness
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
