Job Title: Senior Planning Engineer

Location: Middlesbrough, UK

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join a leading engineering and advisory consultancy supporting energy transition projects across the UK. Based in Middlesbrough, this role will focus on high-impact carbon capture and hydrogen developments.

You’ll play a vital part in delivering complex engineering projects through robust planning, programming, and stakeholder coordination—working with one of the top players in the energy advisory sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full project planning lifecycle, including programme development, progress control, and risk tracking
  • Develop, update, and optimise project schedules using Primavera P6 (including resource and cost loading)
  • Interface with clients, suppliers, designers, subcontractors, and authorities on planning-related matters
  • Analyse subcontractor programmes and feed into the master plan
  • Prepare critical path analyses, earned value reports, and propose mitigation strategies
  • Track and manage change impacts on timelines and project milestones
  • Create detailed sequence diagrams, site layout visuals, and planning presentations
  • Maintain accurate reporting and support senior stakeholders with planning insights
  • Collaborate with delivery and site teams, ensuring aligned programme execution
  • Contribute to building and maintaining an integrated master schedule

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Advanced skills in Primavera P6 (including resourcing and cost control)
  • Solid experience in planning for construction and power/energy-related projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Able to interpret technical drawings, scopes, and integrate supplier timelines
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to work autonomously and within teams
