Why This Role Stands Out Step into a senior role with real design ownership Work across clean and wastewater projects Opportunity to support and guide junior team members Exposure to full project lifecycle and supplier engagement Strong pipeline of AMP work secured Key Responsibilities Delivering mechanical design outputs in line with safety and quality requirements Producing calculations, drawings, and technical documentation Leading coordination with CAD technicians and supporting their development Managing interfaces with subcontract design teams (including M&E) Preparing scopes and reviewing third-party design outputs Engaging with suppliers, reviewing tenders, and supporting equipment selection Producing reports, specifications, and design investigations Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and engineering practices Managing design changes and ensuring accurate documentation Supporting estimation and planning of design activities Attending and presenting at technical and client meetings Requirements Experience in mechanical design within the UK water sector Exposure to both clean water and wastewater projects (infrastructure and non-infrastructure) Experience with hydraulic design and associated calculations Knowledge of programmes such as UMON or similar upgrade schemes Understanding of construction methods and engineering drawing practices Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers and technicians Degree, HND, or equivalent experience
