The Junior Mechanical Package Design Engineer will support the mechanical engineering team in the design, specification, and integration of mechanical packages for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams—including process, piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation—to ensure the successful delivery of safe, compliant, and cost-effective mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical packages such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and utility systems.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including equipment datasheets, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Support vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and interface coordination between mechanical packages and other disciplines.
  • Ensure mechanical designs comply with relevant codes, standards (API, ASME, ISO, etc.), and project specifications.
  • Contribute to design verification, testing, and factory acceptance activities.
  • Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, and site teams to resolve technical queries.
  • Assist in mechanical package design integration across topsides modules, skids, and hull connections.
  • Support project execution activities, including document control, progress reporting, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within oil & gas, offshore, or FPSO projects.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment packages and general layout design.
  • Basic understanding of industry standards and offshore mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling tools (such as AutoCAD, PDMS, or E3D) and MS Office.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environment.

Desirable Attributes

  • Exposure to EPC or detailed design phases of FPSO or offshore projects.
  • Enthusiastic learner with strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to vendor sites or fabrication yards.
