Responsibilities include:
- Provide, using effective and objective communication, risk management advice derived from evaluation of risk exposure(s) including the provision and setting of loss estimates.
- Develop and implement tools based on knowledge, efficiency and cost effectiveness for delivering best possible solutions for control and reduction of financial risk.
- Develop and maintain continuous professional engineering knowledge and resource within areas of expertise.
- Develop and improve communication effectiveness and management relationships to maintain credibility as the leading professional and ethical insurer to clients, brokers, and the insurance market.
- Develop and prioritise objectives for performing visits within technical risks management programmes in association with underwriters and the insured’s management and brokers.
- Develop a continuous improvement philosophy in respect of the team and workflow management.
- Develop and broaden knowledge outside of core expertise enabling and assisting the underwriting and claims functions through education and training.
The ideal candidate will have more than ten years hands-on engineering experience gained primarily in Power Generation of large and complex projects with progressive responsibility. Insurance engineering experience gained with a recognised lead insurer or reinsurer would be beneficial but not essential. Excellent communication and negotiating skills with the ability to work both on own initiative and as an effective team member.
