What you’ll do
- Assist in the installation and repair of various utility pipelines, including water, sewer, and gas lines, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as excavators and trenchers, to facilitate the digging and laying of pipelines.
- Collaborate with team members to prepare job sites, including clearing debris and marking utility lines to prevent damage during excavation.
- Conduct inspections of existing utility systems to identify issues and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Assist in the backfilling and compacting of trenches after pipeline installation, ensuring proper soil stabilization.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to utility installation and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress, challenges, and safety concerns.
- Document work completed and maintain accurate records of materials used and hours worked on each project.
- Support the overall goals of the project by being flexible and willing to take on additional tasks as needed.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience in construction or utilities is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a labor-intensive role, preferably in utilities or construction.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and tools safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices in construction environments.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating materials needed for projects.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in utility installation.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as required.
Nice to have
- Experience with trenching and excavation techniques.
- Familiarity with local utility regulations and codes.
- Certification in safety training programs, such as OSHA.
- Previous experience in a team-oriented construction environment.
- Knowledge of plumbing or pipefitting is a plus.
