The Coordinator of Academic Support Services is responsible for supervising employees in library services and performing professional academic support services duties. This position is governed by state and federal laws and College policy. This role supports the College’s mission of providing and ensuring quality educational programs for ASUN’s various constituencies. This position will be housed on the Newport campus but will work and supervise the libraries and work-study students on all ASUN campus locations as needed. The Coordinator provides direct supervision to all part-time or work-study employees working in the library facilities on any of the ASUN campuses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in professional library services and/or academic support services in a two-year college is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the Coordinator for Academic Support Services for Arkansas State University-Newport.
  • Promote, develop, and assess quality learning technology resources that align with local education programs and community needs.
  • Cultivate and maintain community partnerships to secure local support for the College’s education and Lifelong Learning programs.
  • Exercise effective management skills through collegial communication with other ASUN departments.
  • Manage fiscal policies and procedures within Library Services, Tutoring, Academic Support Services, and Lifelong Learning.
  • Participate actively in activities geared toward resource acquisition, support, and funding to sustain program infrastructure, growth, and sustainability.
  • Model effective decision-making skills through the principles of shared leadership and open communication.
  • Prepare and recommend the budget for Academic Support Services for approval.
  • Oversee library facilities and coordinate appropriate safety guidelines, training, and equipment.
  • Coordinate special events related to Library Services, Tutoring, Academic Support Services, and Lifelong Learning.
  • Serve on college-wide committees, special project teams, state and local committees, and community service and civic committees as needed, acting as a professional and positive representative of the College.
  • Maintain the expectations set forth by the American Library Association.
  • Develop and maintain records and reports needed for programmatic offerings, tutoring, early alert services, archival, and accreditation.
  • Catalog and maintain library holdings, including special holdings such as museum materials and archives.
  • Design and set up rotating book displays and other appropriate displays based on seasonal events and days of recognition.
  • Serve as a frontline source of guidance to campus resources.
  • Volunteer at community events.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and Learning Management Systems preferred.

Education and Experience
