A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced entertainment lawyer to join a leading international rights owner and entertainment business with a globally recognised portfolio of world-class creative assets. This is a visible and commercially significant role sitting at the heart of the organisation, working closely with senior executives, creatives and commercial stakeholders to support the development, licensing, production and protection of valuable intellectual property across multiple territories and entertainment formats.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will advise on a broad spectrum of legal and business affairs matters spanning theatre, music, film and television, publishing, merchandising, themed entertainment and wider commercial activities. The role offers an exceptional combination of interesting and hands-on legal work, strategic influence and genuine partnership with the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting international theatrical licensing and production activity, including negotiating and executing stage rights agreements for major productions across global markets.
  • Advising on the full production lifecycle, including author agreements, underlying rights acquisitions, creative and talent arrangements, presenter and touring agreements, and investor-related projects.
  • Leading negotiations on complex commercial and intellectual property licensing arrangements.
  • Supporting film, television, music, publishing and wider rights exploitation projects, including development agreements, rights clearances and chain of title matters.
  • Advising on intellectual property protection, enforcement and portfolio management, including copyright, trade marks, domain names and disputes.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, providing commercially focused and pragmatic legal guidance.
  • Managing external counsel and contributing to wider strategic and operational business initiatives.
  • Line management and development responsibility for a Paralegal.

We are interested in lawyers who bring:

  • 6+ years' PQE gained within a leading law firm and/or a high-quality in-house legal team.
  • Strong experience advising clients within the theatre, music, media, entertainment or wider creative sectors.
  • Demonstrable expertise in drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial and intellectual property agreements.
  • A strong understanding of rights ownership, exploitation and licensing across theatre, music and/or film and television.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to legal risk.
  • The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders, external partners, investors and creative talent.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working within a fast-paced, creative and entrepreneurial environment.
