An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced commercial media lawyer to join a globally recognised entertainment business supporting its rapidly expanding digital content distribution activities. This is a unique role sitting at the intersection of media, technology and regulation, supporting the continued growth of FAST channels, AVOD services, connected TV, streaming platforms, apps and other emerging digital distribution models.
Whilst the role includes commercial contracting responsibilities, the primary focus is providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice on media regulation, advertising, privacy and digital platform compliance across a fast-evolving international media landscape. Working closely with commercial, distribution, advertising and operational teams in both the UK and US, you will act as a trusted legal adviser, helping the business navigate complex legal and regulatory issues while enabling commercial growth.
The Role
- Advise on a broad range of legal and commercial matters relating to:
- Advertising-supported streaming services (FAST and AVOD)
- Connected TV, streaming platforms, mobile applications and digital distribution
- Media, advertising and platform regulation across the UK, Europe and the US
- Consumer protection and advertising compliance
- Privacy and data protection issues affecting digital media services
- Children's advertising and privacy requirements, including COPPA
- Content licensing, rights management and exploitation
- Platform terms, policies and monetisation requirements
- New distribution models, content delivery and emerging digital ecosystems
You will also support commercial teams on:
- Content distribution and licensing agreements
- FAST and AVOD channel launches and operations
- Platform carriage and distribution arrangements
- Revenue share and commercial partnership agreements
- Rights clearances, windowing and exploitation strategies
- Regulatory and commercial risk management
About You
You will be an experienced media lawyer with significant in-house experience advising media, entertainment or technology businesses. You will bring deep expertise in media law together with strong knowledge of advertising regulation, digital distribution and privacy, and will be comfortable advising senior stakeholders on practical, commercially focused solutions. Experience gained within broadcasters, streaming platforms, studios, digital distributors, technology companies or other content-led businesses would be particularly valuable.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of UK, EU and US media, advertising and consumer regulation
- Experience advising on privacy and data protection issues affecting digital media services
- Familiarity with FAST, AVOD, connected TV, streaming platforms and digital content ecosystems
- Excellent commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
- Confidence working independently within a lean, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the credibility to build trusted relationships across international teams
