A highly regarded independent film studio is seeking an experienced Legal & Business Affairs Lawyer to join its collaborative team on an initial 3–6+ month contract basis. The role offers flexibility for candidates looking to work either 4 or 5 days per week. This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic international business at the forefront of premium scripted film content, working alongside leading creative talent and commercial teams on high-profile film projects.

As a senior member of the Legal & Business Affairs team, you will play a key role across development, production and financing activities, partnering closely with executives and production teams across a diverse slate of scripted projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading negotiations and drafting for book and film options, writer agreements and broadcaster development agreements
  • Advising production teams on a broad range of production legal matters
  • Drafting and negotiating talent, crew, location and other third-party agreements
  • Supporting and leading film financing transactions through bridge close, financial close and bond close
  • Negotiating key talent deals, including producer, director and lead artist agreements
  • Maintaining and updating precedent agreements, legal processes and best practice guidance
  • Acting as a trusted legal adviser to both creative and commercial stakeholders

You will be a qualified solicitor with experience gained within a film (scripted content) environment and will be comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business. You will also bring:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience advising across development, production and financing matters
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • The confidence to communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders
