The Role
You will lead on the practical management of EPC contracts, supporting delivery teams while ensuring contractual risks, claims, and obligations are properly identified and managed. This is a hands-on role focused on real-time project support, not purely legal review.
Key Requirements
- Degree in engineering or related commercial discipline (legal qualification NOT required)
- Strong experience in contract and claims management within construction, EPC, or oil & gas projects
- Proven ability to identify contractual risks and claim events early and manage them proactively
- Solid understanding of EPC contract structures and commercial drivers
- Experience managing claims, variations, and dispute processes, including submission and escalation
- Ability to work with bespoke contracts and support negotiations with clients and subcontractors
- Familiarity with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
- Strong awareness of the commercial impact of late or poorly managed claims
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or similar sectors (solar/BESS desirable)
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the bridge between legal and project delivery teams, translating contractual requirements into practical actions
- Support project managers in managing subcontractor relationships from a contractual and claims perspective
- Identify, assess, and manage variations, claims, and risk events throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead on claims preparation, documentation, and timely submission
- Escalate complex contractual issues and liaise with legal where required
- Support development of contract management processes and best practice across projects
This role would suit candidates from construction or oil & gas backgrounds who bring strong commercial awareness but remain adaptable and pragmatic in approach. The role will be home-based with occasional UK travel and the salary will be very competitive.
