We are seeking experienced and professional Duty Manager to oversee weekend events at Kingswood House. The Duty Manager will act as the lead operational representative on site, ensuring events run smoothly, guests are well supported, and the building remains secure, safe and professionally managed throughout the hire period. This role requires a calm, proactive and hands-on individual with experience in events, hospitality or venue operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and prepare the building before event commencement
  • Carry out pre-event checks to ensure all event spaces are clean, safe and ready for use
  • Act as the main on-site point of contact for hirers, guests, suppliers and venue staff
  • Welcome clients and assist with venue orientation where required
  • Oversee the smooth operational running of events
  • Liaise with security staff, bar staff, cleaners and external suppliers throughout the event
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest queries, complaints or operational issues
  • Monitor activity across the venue to ensure venue policies and licensing conditions are adhered to
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the building during events
  • Ensure emergency exits and access routes remain clear at all times
  • Handle minor incidents and elevate serious concerns appropriately
  • Maintain a visible, professional and approachable presence throughout the shift
  • Monitor noise levels and assist in maintaining good relationships with neighbouring residents
  • Report any damages, breakages, incidents or maintenance concerns
  • Assist with practical operational matters where required, including minor room adjustments or troubleshooting
  • Ensure all guests, suppliers and staff have vacated the building safely at the end of the event
  • Secure the building following the event, including locking doors/windows, checking alarms and ensuring the venue is left safe and secure
  • Complete an end-of-shift report or handover summary where required

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in events, hospitality or venue management
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure
  • Confident working independently and taking initiative
  • Reliable, punctual and professional in presentation and conduct
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable managing a range of private and public-facing events

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • First Aid certification
  • Fire Marshal training
  • Personal Licence holder
  • Experience working weddings, corporate events or community events
  • Knowledge of health & safety and venue compliance procedures
