Senior Technician in Chemistry, Pharmacy & Simulation
Location: Kingston University, Kingston upon Thames, UK.
Full-time, permanent position with a starting salary of £39,407 per annum.
The role provides practical and operational technical support to the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education (HSSCE), supporting the Departments of Chemistry and Pharmacy and the School of Nursing across two local campus sites. The post holder will support the Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) and the day-to-day operation of the departments, including assisting with the supervision of junior technical staff, providing technical support and laboratory cover within Chemistry, and preparing, setting up and dismantling practical classes in the Pharmaceutics laboratories. Further, the postholder will deliver practical sessions to students studying Pharmaceutical Science and Pharmacy, and provide technical support for simulation-based learning within the Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy.
The position will include assisting junior technical staff with the delivery of simulation activities, setting up and dismantling equipment for teaching and assessment, resolving technical issues, and supporting the introduction and development of new simulation technologies designed to enhance the student learning experience.
The postholder will work collaboratively with academic and technical colleagues and a wide range of stakeholders, providing reliable day-to-day support to ensure the smooth, safe and effective delivery of teaching, learning and assessment activities.
Reporting to the Assistant Technical Officer on a day-to-day basis and working under the direction of the Simulation Manager whilst in our Nursing Department, you will play a key role in supporting students and academic staff throughout their practical teaching and learning activities.
