The Role

In this role you will be expected to teach primarily on the BSc (Hons.) in Aviation Operations and BSc (Hons.) in Aviation Operations with Commercial Pilot Training courses. The latter course is a three-year programme that enables students to complete their ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) theory in parallel with the degree. The degree only includes the ground school element of the ATPL, but students may also complete their flight training whilst completing their degree. The programme has access to industry-standard flight simulators that include Airbus A320 Flight Simulator, Helicopter Simulator and Six-Degree of Freedom Motion Simulator. In the role you will be expected to teach students across the different years of the courses. This will include a range of content related to the aviation industry focusing on both the operational and commercial aspects of airline and airport operations.

The Person

You will be expected to understand the aviation industry and support students to secure a successful career in the aviation sector. Ideally you will have experience of teaching subject material related to aviation operations, and this may include academic and/or industry experience of aviation. You may also have experience as a Pilot, although this is not essential. More importantly though you will be a good communicator and able to explain concepts to students in a way they can understand while also being passionate about aviation operations through delivering a high-quality educational experience and positive graduate outcomes for students. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained), such as FHEA (Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
