We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic HPC Support Engineer to play a pivotal role in the successful migration and operation of our new High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster. Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and leveraging the RONIN Software stack, this cutting-edge facility will drive teaching, learning, and research excellence across the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment.
In this role, you will provide expert guidance on using the HPC cluster effectively, assisting users in writing and optimising computational jobs, and troubleshooting complex issues. You will also design and deliver engaging training sessions, produce detailed user documentation, and promote the benefits of our HPC resources across the institution.
Collaborating closely with academic staff, researchers, and IT Services, you will ensure the HPC and GPU facilities are optimally configured to meet curriculum needs, enhance student experience, and support innovative research. The ideal candidate will be an experienced HPC specialist with a strong understanding of cloud-based high-performance computing systems and their application in academic or similarly complex environments. You will have hands-on expertise with AWS and tools such as RONIN, combined with proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python or Bash.
You will be a proactive problem solver, able to optimise computational workflows and deliver efficient solutions tailored to diverse user needs. Your ability to create engaging technical content and deliver effective training will empower students and staff to leverage the full potential of HPC resources.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £44,404 per annum.
