We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Assembly Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations within our client's assembly, production and repairs functions. Working within a dynamic, owner-managed manufacturing environment, this role is pivotal in ensuring efficient production planning, quality standards, and timely delivery of finished goods. The successful candidate will play a key role in co-ordinating production activities, managing stock and materials, overseeing and developing repair operations, and maintaining accurate system records, while promoting a safe and high-performing working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Coordination
    • Plan and organise daily and weekly assembly schedules to meet customer demand and production targets.
    • Coordinate workflow across assembly, repairs, and parts supply to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Liaise with internal departments to align production plans with business requirements.
  • Repairs & Aftercare Support
    • Oversee and coordinate repair work, ensuring timely turnaround and quality completion.
    • Diagnose and prioritise repair requirements in line with business needs.
    • Maintain records of repairs and ensure accurate tracking of returned goods.
  • Stock Control & Materials Management
    • Manage stock levels of parts and components to support both production and repair functions.
    • Monitor inventory usage and ensure timely replenishment to avoid production delays.
    • Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Goods Inwards & Outwards
    • Oversee the booking in and dispatch of goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Update internal systems (including Sage) with goods received and dispatched.
    • Ensure all deliveries are tracked, recorded, and completed within agreed timescales.
  • Logistics & Delivery Co-ordination
    • Coordinate parts delivery to production lines to maintain workflow continuity.
    • Monitor delivery performance and address delays or issues proactively.
    • Work closely with suppliers and couriers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery solutions.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Ensure all assembly and repair work meets company quality standards.
    • Conduct regular quality checks and support continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions where required.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • A knowledge and understanding of electronic equipment with a technical aptitude to help when training new staff.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with stock control systems and ERP software (Sage experience advantageous).
  • Good understanding of quality assurance processes and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices within a production setting.
  • Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and team coordination skills.
