Job Description

Social Worker – Family Assessment Centre

Location: Hendon, London

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Ofsted: Good in all areas – August 2024

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established family assessment service with over 10 years’ experience operating residential children’s homes and family assessment centres. They provide parenting assessments by registered social workers in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (DFE, 2015), offering a robust, independent, and evidence-based service for families.

Families live on-site full-time while undergoing a structured and supportive assessment process. The focus is on safeguarding, helping parents meet their children’s needs, and making clear recommendations for court. The most recent Ofsted inspection in August 2024 rated the service Good in all areas.

The Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join their dedicated team. You will work with up to three families at a time, carrying out thorough parenting assessments that highlight both strengths and areas for improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking high-quality, evidence-based parenting assessments.
  • Building strong, professional relationships with families to promote positive outcomes for children.
  • Producing clear, well-balanced reports with realistic recommendations for court.
  • Liaising with relevant agencies to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children.
  • Providing weekly progress updates to parents.
  • Supporting families with additional needs through tailored care and resources.
