Are you passionate about providing excellent care for babies and their families? We are looking for a caring, motivated and organised individual to join our Newborn Hearing Screening Programme as a Newborn Hearing Screener.
This rewarding role gives you the opportunity to identify babies who may have a hearing loss at the earliest possible stage, helping ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.
Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
As a Newborn Hearing Screener, you will:
- Perform hearing screening tests for newborn babies in hospital and community settings.
- Explain the screening process and results to parents in a sensitive and reassuring manner.
- Maintain accurate patient records and screening data.
- Follow national screening standards and local protocols.
- Work closely with maternity, neonatal, audiology and administrative teams.
- Promote a positive experience for families during the screening process.

Person specification
Qualifications
- Good general education to GCSE level A-C or equivalent in English, Maths and IT as a minimum
- Health Screener Diploma Level 3 or willingness to complete
- Health and Social care related NVQ at Level 2 or higher
- Has completed Newborn hearing screening training and obtained an OSCE Certificate or ECA Certificate
Experience
- Experience of dealing with a wide diversity of people
- Experience of working in a hospital environment
- Baby handling skills
Skills and Abilities
- Good IT skills, including email, Internet and Microsoft software.
- Ability to work Independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain records to a high standard of completeness and accuracy
- Ability to manage time, priorities and stressful situations
- Caring and flexible approach
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to the KRFT values
- Previous experience of patient management systems
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Hearing and Hearing loss
- Knowledge of the purpose of a screening programme
- Evidence of continuing personal and professional development or willingness to
- Knowledge of the safeguarding process and child protection procedures
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
