The Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the ED. This position supports the clinical team by ensuring hygiene standards are upheld, equipment is maintained and cleaned according to policy, and supplies are appropriately managed. The housekeeper also contributes to patient care by assisting with meal service and supporting effective communication between patients, staff, and visitors. The housekeeper will work with the Nurse in Charge of the unit to ensure that all visitors are welcomed and that excellence in customer care and front of house services are provided. This role will support nursing staff but will not replace supplement domestic services, but enhance patient experience overall. The post holder will work as an integral part of the unit team, being responsible for ensuring the delivery of a range of activities to support the clinical team in delivering care, including keeping the unit neat, tidy, uncluttered and well presented; the daily stock of clinical supplies and for equipment cleaning and maintenance. They will be responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable ward environment and will work flexibly.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain hygiene standards and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained according to policy.
  • Manage supplies and assist with daily stock of clinical materials.
  • Support patient care by assisting with meal service and facilitating effective communication between patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Welcome visitors in collaboration with the Nurse in Charge and provide front-of-house service.
  • Support nursing staff and contribute to a neat, tidy, uncluttered, and well-presented unit.
  • Assist with ensuring a safe and comfortable ward environment and work flexibly to meet unit needs.
