Role and ideal candidate

Kingston Adult Education is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Historian/teacher of history or someone with a good knowledge of London history to teach London History to groups of adult (19+) learners whilst on walking courses in London.

Standard courses typically run throughout the academic year (September to July) and each course is two hours of contact time per week.

You will be joining our team of fantastic teachers and will be given a full induction to working at KAE. As well as this, there are regular training sessions and CPD opportunities.

These walks introduce learners to some of the most popular parts of London for visitors and Londoners alike and there will be plenty of opportunities for learners to ask questions about the sights and history of London and learn from you about different aspects of London\\\’s rich and varied history and culture.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • have a degree standard or high level of London history knowledge and be able to conduct 2 hour walking tours of London using this knowledge to introduce learners to parts of London they may be new to and enthuse them
  • Assess learners at the start of the course and plan a programme of learning to meet their needs
  • Differentiate the delivery to meet the needs of individual learners
  • Ensure all course documentation (such as scheme of work) is in place and up to date
  • Ensure that Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Safeguarding, Prevent and other KAE policies are implemented
