Overview
The Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities. To do this the Council needs employees who thrive in an agile and networked organisation and who can support continuous improvement within a constructive organisational culture.
Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the operational management, ongoing development and promotion of the Building Control Services.
- To provide inspirational leadership to a team of Building Control Surveyors to ensure the successful implementation and enforcement of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- To deliver a risk based operational strategy to ensure the Building Control service meets the demands of the Building Safety Regulator and Building Safety Act 2022. To support the operational delivery, outcomes and development of the Building Control function.
- The role reports to the Assistant Director, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure, and is responsible for the Building Control team. Substantial experience in Building Control and possessing the ability to effectively manage a range of projects from domestic and dwelling houses up to 5 storeys through to complex commercial, mixed use and high rise schemes, examining plans and carrying out site inspections, initiating and dealing with enforcement action.
- Experience of providing high standards of customer service across a range of diverse activities.
- The post holder must be able to demonstrate, using the competency framework, the ability to carry out the duties and tasks commensurate with competency level 6A.
Contract
I am currently representing Kingston Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
