The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Vocational Skills Assessor to facilitate the effective and efficient practical and online assessment of learners as well as the development of their commercial, employability and enterprise skills. You will assess learners on a variety of programmes across the School which may include Level 1, 2 and Level 3 in hairdressing and/or barbering and Customer Service, providing prompt and constructive feedback after the assessment.
You will ensure a strong client base in the Commercial salons ensuring income targets are met and undertake assessments in the College salons and other practical areas, ensuring a professional image and a safe and secure environment is maintained. Supporting the teaching teams and learners in the reception, salon and practical areas, you will assist the learners to work professionally and develop and achieve commercial and employability skills, and reception duties which will include daily cashing up, managing client bookings, increasing client numbers and weekly income targets, promoting retail sales, campaigns and displays.
As our Vocational Skills Assessor, we would like you to hold a Level 3 qualification in hairdressing and/or barbering, be able to demonstrate recent industrial experience and show excellent demonstration skills in hairdressing. You will also hold an assessing qualification (or be willing to work towards) and have awareness of academic quality standards. With energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education, you will support, motivate and empathise with young learners, including monitoring their progress.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. There is an expectation that the role will work across sections within the School and will include reception duties. The role may also involve working evenings and Saturdays.
