The Creative Industries School at Kingston College includes a range of general and specialist courses from level 1 to level 4 covering Art and Design, Media, Music and Performing Arts. The School offers Access Diplomas and Higher Education courses and has expanded into part-time Adult Education courses.
As our Theatre Technician, you will ensure the effective running of the College's ACT Theatre for teaching purposes, internal events and external hires. You will assist in the management of equipment and stock levels and help maintain the theatre, relevant performance spaces and workshops to meet robust health and safety requirements. You will ensure an orderly working environment for the students, managing the distribution, collection and return of all College equipment and assisting with any repairs when required. You will thrive in an educational environment, supporting lecturing staff in formal classes and providing supervision and guidance to students.
We would like you to have:
- General experience of backstage theatre production
- Strong IT skills
- Good working knowledge of specialist equipment and resources (lighting, sound, etc.)
Comfortable working under pressure and to agreed deadlines, a high degree of flexibility is required as hours will include weekends and/or evenings. A formal technical and/or educational qualification is preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 6th May 2025.
