Sessional Lecturer – Travel, Tourism, Aviation and Directed Pathways
The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to teach across a range of courses and levels within the curriculum area, including BTEC, NCFE, Levels 1-3. The role may cover Travel & Tourism units, hospitality units, and aviation/cabin crew units.
The courses are predominantly coursework-based; the successful candidate will design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. The director’s pathways vocational course also offers students opportunities to explore pathways such as Health and Social Care, Sport, Hair, Beauty, Barbering, and Travel and Tourism. The role involves internal verification activities and participation in external verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching on BTEC and/or NCFE programmes.
- Design and develop coursework assignments and assessment.
- Maintain links to industry, external agencies and validating bodies while ensuring academic quality standards.
- Support, motivate and empathise with learners, monitoring progress and providing feedback.
- Plan, prepare and administer lessons efficiently with good attention to detail.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or professional qualification in an appropriate subject.
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Relevant teaching experience on BTEC and/or NCFE programmes.
- Strong industry links and awareness of academic quality standards.
- Excellent teaching skills, high personal standards and organisational abilities.
