The Creative Industries School at Kingston College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Specialist Media Make-Up lecturer. With expertise in special effects make-up, period hair and make-up for stage and screen, you will deliver exciting and industry relevant skills and knowledge to students enrolled on our popular practical vocational courses, predominately at Level 3.

You will plan, teach and assess your subject specialism within relevant qualification frameworks, primarily BTEC, and produce schemes of work, monitor their delivery, supervise assessment, provide internal verification and liaise with external verifiers/moderators as required. You will ensure programmes of work are conceived and delivered in ways which meet the needs of individual learners through Personal Learning Plans and resource-based learning.

As our lecturer, we would like you to hold qualifications in a subject area relevant to media make-up (production arts) and/or evidence of significant specialist industry experience, hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards) and be recognised as a good or outstanding teacher. You will have a good understanding of the world of current media make-up and will be able to support students in developing higher specialist level skills and understanding.

This role requires a dynamic, proactive, highly organised individual who has a strong commitment to equality and diversity, safeguarding, personalised learning and the provision of educational excellence with a clear understanding of relevant Health & Safety requirements in this sector.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 9th July 2025.

There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.

As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
