Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026. The School of Foundation, Intermediate Learning and Employability at Kingston College are looking to appoint a Sessional Lecturer to teach a combination of GCSE Maths and Maths Functional Skills. The GCSE teaching will be predominantly to students aged 16-19 years of age.
For Maths Functional Skills classes we allocate 2 hours of teaching a week. You will follow our agreed schemes of work and assessment schedules, and you will be expected to set a minimum of one piece of marked work each class every week recorded on Pro-Monitor. You will prepare students for June exams, marking home works and mock exams, student monitoring and where appropriate, curriculum development.
As our Lecturer, we would like you to hold a degree or relevant professional qualification in an appropriate subject, hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and have excellent teaching skills in GCSE and Functional Skills Mathematics to students aged 16-19 years of age. You will have energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education, be able to support, motivate and empathise with learners, including monitoring their progress and be able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
With high personal standards and expectations, you will have good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines. The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 24th June 2026.
