Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026. The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer with expertise in Geography to lead the delivery of A-level Geography. In addition, there may be opportunities to teach on a variety of vocational programmes across the curriculum area, including BTEC and NCFE qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3, such as Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Aviation and Cabin Crew, depending on the successful candidate's experience.

The courses are predominantly coursework based and therefore we seek an innovative practitioner to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures are an essential component of this work. Undertake assessment, internal quality assurance and standardisation activities in line with awarding body requirements and support external quality assurance processes as required.

You will have excellent teaching skills and substantial relevant teaching experience on A-level, BTEC and/or NCFE programmes with links to the industry, relevant external agencies and validating bodies with an awareness of academic quality standards. You should hold a degree or professional qualification in Geography, Travel & Tourism, Tourism Management, Aviation Management or a closely related discipline, hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one) and have energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education.

With high personal standards and expectations and the ability to support, motivate and empathise with learners, including monitoring their progress, you will have good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, with good attention to detail.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.

South Thames Colleges Group is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
