Job Opportunity
We are looking for two carers to support a young person living in Wallington. The role involves providing high-quality personal care, assisting with transfers using a ceiling track hoist, supporting PEG feeding, showering, changing pads, medication administration, accompanying SPA-DOB to access the community and providing overnight support. Overnight responsibilities include regular repositioning when required and providing assistance during episodes of coughing or vomiting to ensure SPA-DOB’s safety and comfort. The successful candidates will work as part of a planned support package that includes both one-to-one and two-to-one support depending on the activity. Hours include overnight shifts, term-time support and additional hours during school holidays, with the exact rota and working days agreed in advance with SPA-DOB’s family. We are looking for people who have previous experience supporting children or young people with physical disabilities and complex needs. You should be confident in providing personal care and ideally have experience with PEG feeding, however training will be given to the right person. Training can be provided where appropriate, but a caring attitude, patience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Experience supporting individuals with communication difficulties would be highly desirable.
