The role is for a subject librarian, initially acting as the primary contact for both staff and students in the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry. You will deliver embedded and stand-alone information literacy sessions within that subject area and, as required, across other disciplines. You will also help select and manage a range of resources to support staff and students, together with providing support material. As part of the larger Library and Learning Services (LLS) team you will participate in cross-LLS work beyond what might traditionally be in a subject librarian role. LLS is evidence-led with UX research embedded as a core tool.
Responsibilities
- Deliver embedded and stand-alone information literacy sessions for staff and students.
- Select and manage resources and provide support material for the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry.
- Participate in cross-LLS projects and initiatives that extend beyond the traditional subject librarian role.
- Interpret data and develop subject knowledge related to the academic portfolio.
- Apply creativity and lateral thinking in problem resolution.
- Contribute to UX research and evidence-led service design as part of LLS.
Qualifications
- Good understanding of the higher education environment and the library’s role within it.
- Experience with emerging information environments, digital developments and their implications for learning, teaching and research.
- Responsive to a diverse range of users, understanding their needs and pressures.
- Ability to interpret data, develop subject knowledge, and think creatively in problem resolution.
- Experience of delivering information skills training.
Employment Details
- Contract type: Permanent.
- Hours: 25.9 hours per week (0.7 FTE).

- Salary: £39,407 – £43,835 per annum (FTE) / £27,584 (0.7 FTE).
