Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm, Fri 8am-3pm

We are working with a well-established, high-security manufacturing site in the Bath area, currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering team. If you are an experienced mechanical professional from a process or manufacturing background, this is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal role at a complex, technically interesting facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead hands-on mechanical maintenance across a range of plant and production equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance - both planned and reactive - is carried out to a high standard.
  • Work closely with HSE teams to uphold safety, environmental, and security standards.
  • Take a proactive role in root cause analysis and long-term engineering solutions.
  • Support monthly and annual shutdowns, including planning and execution.
  • Supervise contractors and assist in the development of multi-skilled shift engineers.
  • Manage engineering spares, stores, purchasing, and equipment installation/modification.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance system updates.
What You’ll Need
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background in a manufacturing/process environment.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
  • A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HND, BSc, or equivalent).
  • Comfortable using PC-based systems and CMMS (ideally Planet FM).
  • Familiarity with both process and service equipment.
  • HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH) preferred - training can be provided.
  • Willingness to join an on-call rota after initial settling period.
