Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Role – Wrexham
Location: Wrexham
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off days (12-hour shifts)
Salary: £48,683 basic (pay review pending – circa 3% increase) + overtime
Hours: 42 hours per week (average)

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site in Wrexham. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance and repair of plant, machinery, and production systems to minimise downtime and support business objectives. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive engineer who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy plant and production equipment
- Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions
- Work closely with the production team to minimise downtime
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, food safety, and environmental regulations
- Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, safety, and performance
- Liaise with suppliers to manage parts, materials, and equipment availability
- Work collaboratively with hygiene and operations teams to maintain site standards
- Participate in an on-call rota once fully trained on site and equipment
About You
You’ll be a mechanically biased maintenance engineer with strong experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Essential:
- Apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 17th Edition certification
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Experience working in a team-based manufacturing environment
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental regulations
- Comfortable using CMMS systems and Microsoft applications
Desirable:
- Experience in heavy engineering, FMCG, food, or agricultural environments
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
Shift & On-Call
4 on / 4 off days (12-hour shifts)
On-call rota: 1 in 4 (introduced once fully site-trained)
On-call allowance: £120 per on-call week
Call-outs paid at a minimum of 4 hours plus overtime
Salary & Benefits
Basic Salary: £48,683 (pay review pending – approx. 3% uplift)
Overtime: Paid at x1.5
Holiday: 264 hours per year
