Key responsibilities The Auxiliary Plant Operator (APO) will work on a shift rotation to: * Competently carry out operational activities within the boiler house and turbine hall and ensure that they are carried out in a safe, professional, economical and timely manner in accordance with company policies and procedures. * Ensure the efficient day to day operation of the plant under the direction of the Shift Team Leader, maximising plant availability at the facility. * Assist the Shift Team with the operation of plant whilst maintaining all company standards and ensuring legal compliance. * To conduct plant checks, monitoring of machinery and ensuring optimum performance of all equipment is maintained at all times. * Update the shift log including plant and process changes, diligent shift handover to ensure effective communication to the following shift. * Ensure work carried out is conducted as per the manufacturer’s guidelines and in accordance with the Safe System of Work. * Reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses as per company procedures. * Ensure operations are conducted in line with health and safety legislation and Viridor standards. * Assist with all shutdown activities within the plant ensuring plant downtime is minimised, also carry out front line maintenance to ensure plant availability is maintained. * Assisting with loading and unloading operations. * Operation of mobile plant and machinery. * Operation of weighbridges (including automated systems), weighing vehicles and completing tickets as required. * Supervise/co-ordinate the safe unloading of plant consumables, such as Lime, Carbon, Ammonia and Gas Oil. * Safely operate an overhead travelling crane. * Perform other duties as assigned within the limitations of training and capabilities. * Carry out front line maintenance activities within the boiler house and whole plant if required.
