About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing multi-site manufacturing business based in Bridgwater. The company is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role responsible for delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of production equipment. You will ensure machinery is maintained safely, efficiently, and reliably, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives alongside the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and carry out hands-on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on production machinery
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the company’s high standards
- Supervise and support engineers and external contractors during maintenance activities
- Conduct thorough post-maintenance checks and ensure safe handover of equipment to production
- Identify faults, defects, or follow-up work and escalate appropriately to prevent unplanned downtime
- Plan and prepare for upcoming PPMs, ensuring tools, materials, permits, and documentation are ready
- Collaborate with the TPM Manager to refine and improve maintenance procedures
- Support wider engineering activities including reactive maintenance, installations, and continuous improvement projects
Candidate Requirements
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience executing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Ability to fault-find, repair, and maintain production equipment (motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control systems)
- Knowledge of safe systems of work, including LOTO, permits, and isolations
- Experience using maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS)
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Electrical qualifications including 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing (desirable but not essential)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
