We are working in partnership with a leading organisation within the energy and environmental sector to recruit a Safety & Compliance Manager for a highly regulated operational facility. This is a key leadership role, responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of health, safety and environmental compliance across the site. You will play a critical role in embedding a robust safety culture while supporting operational performance within a complex, compliance-led environment.
The Role
- As Safety & Compliance Manager, you will take ownership of site-wide safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and monitoring health, safety and environmental management systems
- Developing, implementing and auditing policies, procedures and safe systems of work
- Interpreting emissions and compliance data, supporting operational planning and audits
- Leading risk assessments, method statements and SSOW to prevent incidents and accidents
- Working closely with the Plant Manager and wider site leadership team to support safe, efficient operations
- Playing a pivotal role in developing a strong safety-first, quality-led culture within a start-up or evolving facility
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience within a highly regulated, compliance-focused environment
- Background in energy, power generation or waste processing (energy-from-waste experience highly advantageous)
- Proven leadership capability, with experience building and developing teams
- Strong knowledge of permitted and regulated processes, ideally within controlled emissions environments
- Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
- Solid understanding of relevant legislation within the energy and power sector
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
- Awareness of management systems and standards including ISO 14001, ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 and ISO 50001
- Thorough understanding of environmental regulation and technical waste management processes
- Full UK driving licence
Package & Benefits:
- Salary: £60,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
- 7% matched pension
- Private healthcare scheme
- Discretionary annual bonus up to 14%
