The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum plant uptime and maintaining the efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and site services. You will carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs while ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across the site.
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
- Working closely with the Engineering Team Manager to identify and plan long-term solutions for recurring equipment issues.
- Completing daily and weekly maintenance activities on boiler and steam systems.
- Maintaining pressure systems including steam, condensate, and compressed air systems.
- Ensuring compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations and all site safety procedures.
- Safely isolating plant and equipment to allow maintenance, cleaning, and contractor activities.
- Issuing Permits to Work and Isolation Certificates while ensuring procedures are followed correctly.
- Assisting and coordinating with external contractors when required.
- Recording maintenance activities accurately within the site's maintenance management system.
- Managing spare parts requirements and communicating stock needs to the engineering team.
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards and ensuring work areas are left clean and safe.
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment (medium to heavy manufacturing experience would be advantageous).
- A strong multi-skilled maintenance background with both electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience.
- Experience working with steam systems, boilers, or similar process equipment.
- A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment.
