We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contract Manager to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of fuel supply contracts across local authority, commercial, industrial and merchant environments. This is a commercially focused role with strong exposure to contract performance, compliance, risk and optimisation.

Our client is a leading UK-based resource recovery, recycling and energy generation organisation, operating a nationwide portfolio of advanced infrastructure assets. The business plays a critical role in supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy by transforming waste into valuable resources and energy.
The Role:
You will be responsible for the effective management and optimisation of all fuel supply contracts, ensuring full contractual, legal and regulatory compliance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental performance and fuel quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all fuel supply contracts to ensure contractual, legal and regulatory obligations are fully met
- Driving continuous improvement in contract performance through monitoring, evaluation and action planning
- Developing and maintaining a comprehensive contract risk register, ensuring adherence to company policies and legislative requirements
- Liaising closely with operational site management to ensure fuel volumes meet operational demand
- Working with operational teams, suppliers and hauliers to ensure fuel quality standards and site rules are maintained
- Developing and managing contingency plans to mitigate fuel supply risks during planned and unplanned outages
- Sourcing fuel on the most commercially advantageous terms, ensuring compliance with quality specifications, NCV targets, budgets and volume requirements
- Ensuring best value delivery through effective commercial negotiation and supplier management
Essential Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of contract management
- Sound financial understanding including budgeting, forecasting and P&L
- Experience managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets
- Knowledge of monthly financial reporting and P&L systems
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience managing client and stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrable background in complex contract management, including payment mechanisms and performance frameworks
- Strong commercial contract management and negotiation experience
Package & Benefits:
- Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
- Discretionary annual bonus of up to 14%
- Car allowance: £6,500
- Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
