Are you a Production or Manufacturing Engineer with a hands-on CNC background from a Precision Manufacturing background looking for an exciting opportunity? Then get in touch! Kingston Barnes has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer for one of our clients in North Somerset.

The Role:

  • Day-to-day production support across a variety of manufacturing processes, including turning, milling and grinding
  • Actively contribute to the channel cross-functional team solving daily issues
  • Data driven process capability and process improvement activities
  • Customer interface for engineering changes
  • Technical interface with suppliers
  • New product introduction activities, including manufacturing process and layout creation, prototyping and serial production support
  • Lead costing and quoting exercises
  • Defining manufacturing instructions, CNC machine program creation (CAM) and creating technical documents
  • Support implementation of new CNC equipment
  • Support reduction of scrap, loss and rework through process control and improvement
  • Liaise with Design Office, Supply Chain, Planning, Customer Service, EHS and Quality Assurance functions

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • HNC/Degree in a technical discipline
  • Problem solving experience (5Why, A3, 8D)
  • Process knowledge of either turning, milling and/or grinding
  • New Product Introduction experience

Desirable:

  • Experience of NC programming for single and multi-functional equipment, CAM experience beneficial
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Appreciation of aerospace bearing products and their applications
  • Knowledge of lean or 6sigma tools
  • IT literate, interest in IoT and digitalisation
  • IEng/CEng accreditation or similar, or a desire to work towards
