Kingston Barnes is currently recruiting for a NDT Technician for our client in the Bristol area. Our client is a manufacturer of specialised parts for the aerospace industry.

The Company

Our client specialises in machining complex machined parts for the aerospace industry. They are an established business in their field and work with market-leading names to assist them with the manufacturing of parts.

The Role

You will be responsible for inspecting components using Non-Destructive Testing methods, including dye penetrant and magnetic flaw detection, to ensure parts meet engineering specifications and are free from defects. Also responsible for carrying out heat treatment processes to ensure required quality standards are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out NDT including dye penetrant and magnetic flaw detection to identify cracks or defects in components
  • Support the production team to ensure parts move through the manufacturing process efficiently and on schedule
  • Operate heat treatment processes to ensure components meet engineering and quality requirements
  • Check, calibrate and maintain heat treatment equipment to ensure it is working correctly
  • Be flexible to work alternative shifts or hours when required
  • Carry out other reasonable duties or projects as requested by management

About you

  • Experience inspecting components and identifying defects
  • Understanding of quality control procedures and applying them accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Experience using dye penetrant and magnetic testing
  • Knowledge of NDT processes and production techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
