The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Granulator Technician to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is a specialist engineering role focused on the maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and continuous improvement of industrial PET granulators. You will play a key role in maximising equipment reliability and availability, reducing downtime and ensuring granulation equipment operates safely, efficiently and to the required production standards.
The Role
- Servicing, maintaining, overhauling and repairing industrial granulators.
- Providing first-response engineering support for granulator breakdowns.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and operational faults.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and condition monitoring.
- Replacing and setting granulator knives, screens, bearings, gearboxes and drive systems.
- Carrying out machine strip-downs, rebuilds and commissioning.
- Fault-finding on rotating machinery and associated equipment.
- Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Monitoring equipment reliability, efficiency and product quality.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records through the site's CMMS.
- Liaising with OEMs and technical suppliers when specialist support is required.
- Supporting 5S, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Sharing technical knowledge and providing on-the-job coaching to colleagues.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong background as a Granulator Technician / Granulator Engineer.
- Proven experience servicing and repairing industrial granulators.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with bearings, gearboxes, drive systems and rotating machinery.
- Experience with planned preventative maintenance and CMMS systems.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Experience
It would be particularly advantageous if you have experience with:
- Tria granulators
- Cumberland granulators
- Rapid granulators
- PET recycling or plastics processing
- Extrusion or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Mechanical or multi-skilled engineering qualifications/apprenticeships
