Mechanical Maintenance EngineerLocation: Yatton, North SomersetSalary: £50,000-£53,000 (With attendance allowance)Shift Pattern: 3-week rotating 12-hour shift patternThe CompanyA rapidly expanding manufacturing business supplying bespoke products to a wide range of sectors, including construction, engineering and manufacturing.
The site operates across several specialist manufacturing areas, with this position being based within the extrusion side of the business .The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance position with a strong mechanical and hydraulic bias.
You will be responsible for keeping production equipment running effectively, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance and supporting the wider engineering team with fault finding and repairs.
Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems .Replace and repair bearings, seals and hydraulic components .Carry out component changes and straight swaps where required.
Support preventative maintenance and TPM activities.
Carry out general mechanical fault finding and repairs.
Electrical maintenance and fault finding would be beneficial.
Work safely and effectively to minimise production downtime.
Skills & ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have: Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment .A strong mechanical maintenance background , ideally with multi-skilled experience.
Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics .Experience working with bearings, seals and other mechanical components.
Electrical maintenance experience would be advantageous.
An apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training.
Level 3 engineering qualification preferred , with Level 2 considered.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
Shift PatternThis role operates on a 3-week rotating 12-hour shift pattern , working 06:00–18:00 days and 18:00–06:00 nights: Week 1: Monday & Tuesday OFF, Wednesday–Friday DAYSWeek 2: Monday–Wednesday NIGHTS, Thursday & Friday OFFWeek 3: Monday & Tuesday DAYS, Wednesday OFF, Thursday & Friday NIGHTSAdditional 12-hour day shift every 6 weeksAverage of 42 hours per week , or approximately 39.5 hours after unpaid breaksTuesday day shifts are used for TPM activities (06:00–18:00)There is no scheduled weekend working , although there is an opportunity to work approximately one weekend per month as overtime if desired.
