We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer of high-precision components for the aerospace sector. The Role
- Setting and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC turning machines
- Setting tooling, workpieces and fixtures, including establishing machine datums and work offsets
- Manufacturing soft jaws and preparing tooling for production
- Producing precision components accurately and efficiently to drawing tolerances and customer specifications
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications and GD&T
- Monitoring machining processes and optimising speeds, feeds and machine parameters to improve cycle times while maintaining quality and safety
- Carrying out in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Troubleshooting and resolving common tooling, programme and machine issues
- Maintaining accurate production documentation, including inspection reports, setup sheets and tool lists
- Working closely with engineers and manufacturing colleagues to improve production processes and machining efficiency
- Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining a safe, high-quality working environment
- Following all company policies, quality standards and health and safety procedures
About You:
- In-depth experience setting and operating Fanuc-controlled CNC turning machines
- The ability to fully set CNC machines, including installing workpieces, fixtures and cutting tools, and establishing datums and work offsets
- Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills and an understanding of GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and plug gauges
- The ability to produce components accurately to drawing tolerances and customer specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, engineers and other manufacturing personnel
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, machining techniques and process improvements
Hours:
A variety of working hours and shifts are on offer, based on a 37-hour week. This includes:
- Day Shift Monday to Thursday: 7.30am - 4.00pm, Friday: 7.30am - 12.30pm
- Late Shift Monday to Thursday: 2.00pm - midnight (30% shift premium on top of hourly rate)
- Double-Day Shift Pattern (25% shift premium on top of hourly rate) Rotating between: Early shift: Monday to Thursday, 6.00am - 2.00pm and Friday, 6.00am - 11.00am Late shift: Monday to Thursday, 2.00pm - 10.00pm and Friday, 11.00am - 4.00pm
You will normally be based at one designated site, although there may be occasions where temporary assignments at another Bristol-based site are required to support customer demand, training, project work or operational requirements.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate depending on experience and skill level:
- Operator: £12.92 - £14.00 per hour
- Advanced Operator: £14.00 - £15.62 per hour
- Setter-Operator: £15.62 - £17.23 per hour
- Programmer Setter-Operator: £17.23 - £18.31 per hour
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
