An award-winning engineering business is looking to recruit an experienced CAD Draughtsperson to support the delivery of a number of exciting bespoke engineering projects. The company designs and manufactures specialist electromechanical systems used on high-profile projects across the entertainment and live events sector, working on innovative equipment that combines mechanical, electrical and control engineering. As a CAD Draughtsperson, you will play a key role in supporting the engineering team by producing high-quality 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings for bespoke electromechanical products. Working closely with design engineers, you will transform concepts, sketches and existing models into accurate manufacturing documentation suitable for fabrication, assembly and client coordination. This is a fast-paced project environment where attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work to fixed deadlines are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and update 3D CAD models using SolidWorks.
- Create accurate 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.
- Generate drawing packs, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supporting technical documentation.
- Produce layouts, diagrams and illustrations for engineering documentation and manuals.
- Maintain drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
- Interpret client drawings, architectural layouts and technical information using AutoCAD.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to ensure technical accuracy.
- Support prototype builds, test fitting and design validation where required.
- Ensure all drawings meet company quality, documentation and safety standards.
About You
To be successful in this role you should have:
- At least 2 years' professional experience using SolidWorks within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong 3D modelling skills with experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Experience working with weldments and sheet metal design.
- AutoCAD experience with the ability to interpret client drawings and layouts.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently.
Desirable experience includes:
- Hands-on engineering or manufacturing experience.
- BIM workflows and model integration.
- Engineering document management systems and revision control.
- Experience working on bespoke or one-off engineering projects.
