Join us as an Anaesthetic Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner in our dynamic Main Theatres and Day Surgery department, where you\’ll play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge care. You\’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of specialties, including urology, general surgery, upper GI, breast, gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT, oral, plastic, ophthalmology, trauma & orthopaedics, CEPOD, and bariatric surgery. Theatre Facilities

  • 12 Theatres: 8 in the main theatre, 4 in Day Surgery Unit (DSU), plus support for 2 maternity theatres and IVF.
  • Diverse Specialties: Experience a wide range of procedures including Urology, General Surgery, Upper GI, Breast, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Oral, Plastic, Ophthalmology, Trauma & Orthopaedics, CEPOD, Robotics and Bariatric surgeries.

Requirements

  • You will need to be a Registered ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) with the HCPC or an RN holding a recognised ANAESTHETIC qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care: Provide high-quality patient care under supervision, including implementing basic and complex healthcare practices. Ensure safe techniques in patient and equipment handling, document care accurately, and participate in multi-disciplinary decision-making.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Effectively communicate with patients, relatives, and colleagues. Report incidents and contribute to team discussions. Provide clear explanations of nursing interventions and respond sensitively to others\’ needs.
  • Management & Leadership: Utilise resources effectively, delegate tasks to junior staff, support peers through preceptorship, and participate in policy development and quality audits. Engage in reflective practice and promote evidence-based practices.
  • Governance: Maintain high standards of clinical care, keep patients informed, identify risks, and update clinical skills for ongoing professional development.
