Simply Education are working very closely with our client to recruit a Full-time Humanities Teacher (History & Geography) for their brand-new Secondary SEND School, opening up in the Surrey area RH1. The school is set out to support pupils aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All of the pupils at the school have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team, we are able to give students.
Key Duties
- Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
- Collaboratively work with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
- Monitor, assess and review the progress and work of the students to parents, senior staff, team members and so forth.
- Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
Skills And Experience
- Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students' progress.
- Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
- Ability to engage pupils in positive enabling relationships.
Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE/QTLS or equivalent) and evidence of in-service teaching.
Desirable
- Postgraduate diploma in Autism.
- Previous experience working in a special school.
- Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum.
