As the Technical Processing Engineer, you will be providing full support to Kingspan Insulation Ltd at Pembridge in terms of process chemistry and technical support to enable current and future low cost, high quality & compliant production of insulation boards. You will be reporting directly to the Technical Processing Manager - Operations(GB).
Main Duties of our Technical Processing Engineer
- Responsible for chemical & process optimisation to ensure continuous production of polyisocyanurate, phenolic, vacuum insulated and Alpha core insulation board, such that product quality fully meets specification standards with minimal product re-testing.
- Participate with the instigation of corrective action in the event of product failures (attributable to processing). This may require customer and site visits.
- Understand local quality assurance test methods, harmonised product standards and associated test standards.
- To understand the technical performance and conformity to customer application requirements.
- Where necessary working with Technical Projects team on bespoke customer requirements.
- Responsible to develop own knowledge of continuous production systems to be able to act as a resource for the Production teams at Pembridge and potential other GB sites, if required and be able to convey substantive advice in any meetings.
- Assist with trials for new product development and existing improvements in conjunction with the Product & Process Development team.
- Adhering to the CMEx methodology and change management processes to deliver compliant products meeting scope requirements.
- Ensure that all management information technology systems within your area of control are developed and maintained to provide accurate and timely data for the purpose of continuous improvement.
- Liaise with suppliers, technical establishments, certification bodies and customers, or attend conferences or further training as required by the objectives of the job role, to further the company’s interests including travel wherever scheduled.
- Responsible to act lawfully in accordance with the general provisions contained within the Health And Safety At Work Act (HASAWA) 1974, with due regard to their own and others’ Health and Safety and the environment at all times.
- Awareness of COSHH regulations and responsibility for providing SDS information before and after any new chemicals are brought onto site.
Skills and Experience required of our Technical Processing Engineer
- You will have a professional qualification such as a degree or higher degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical, or Processing Engineering or in a similar subject.
- You will have a full UK driving licence.
- Application of problem-solving tools.
- Excellent numeracy skills and ability to analyse data for trends.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of working with various IT programs i.e. MS Word, Excel.
- Ability to act quickly and decisively when problems arise.
Whilst not essential, it would be beneficial to have:
- Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with SAP.
- Experience of working with and understanding ISO and EN Product Standards.
