Managing Quantity Surveyor - CK3666305

Full-Time No working from home possible

Not every Quantity Surveying role gives you the opportunity to help build something.

This one does.

We're working with an ambitious and rapidly growing construction consultancy in Shropshire that is already delivering significant, high-profile projects for major clients.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and ambitious plans for the future, the business is now looking to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in its continued growth.

This is an opportunity for an experienced commercial professional who enjoys being close to projects and clients but is also ready to take greater responsibility for people, performance and delivery.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll take responsibility for managing Quantity Surveying commissions and supporting a growing team across a portfolio of complex projects.

You'll remain hands-on with project delivery while also providing leadership, commercial oversight and support to less experienced members of the team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading major QS and commercial commissions from inception through to completion
  • Managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors
  • Providing commercial leadership across multiple projects
  • Managing cost, contracts, change, risk and commercial reporting
  • Building strong relationships with demanding, fast-paced clients
  • Ensuring projects are delivered accurately and within tight deadlines
  • Supporting bids, new opportunities and wider business growth
  • Working closely with senior leadership as the consultancy continues to scale

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in speaking with Quantity Surveyors who have developed their careers within a contractor or commercially focused project environment.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong contractor-side Quantity Surveying experience
  • Excellent pre- and post-contract commercial knowledge
  • Experience managing projects and supporting or leading other Quantity Surveyors
  • Strong contractual and commercial awareness
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients and senior stakeholders
  • The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with demanding clients and tight deadlines
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
  • The ambition to take on greater responsibility as the business grows

Experience within utilities, energy, M&E or technically complex infrastructure projects would be particularly advantageous, although it is not essential.

MRICS would be welcomed but is not a prerequisite – relevant commercial experience and capability are more important.

Why Consider It?

This isn't a role where you'll simply become another person within a large commercial team.

You'll join a growing business where you'll be visible, trusted and given genuine responsibility.

There’s an opportunity to influence how the commercial function develops, help build and mentor the team, work directly with key clients and progress your career as the consultancy continues to expand.

If you're currently a Managing Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager or experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who feels ready for greater responsibility, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
