Our lawyers advise and support professionals and businesses in all aspects of their dealings with UK regulators across the financial services, accountancy, finance, legal and healthcare sectors.

We are looking for an Associate (3-5 years PQE) to work closely with the partners, particularly Julie Matheson, to advise clients in a range of regulatory defence matters, focusing on the accountancy and built environment sector; on compliance, regulatory investigations and the implications of securing external investment. The role will involve providing advice to accountancy firms, regulated firms in the built environment or actuarial sector and individuals who seek advice in relation to disciplinary proceedings by the FRC, ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, ICAI, CIPFA, CIMA, RICS and the IFoA.

The successful candidate will see an enormously varied and interesting mix of cases and we are looking for someone who is keen to help build out and develop the practice within Regulatory. The role will also involve knowledge sharing, horizon scanning and marketing to assist in raising the profile of the team more broadly.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience within Regulatory/professional discipline, particularly with financial regulators
  • Experience in working in accountancy regulation is preferred, as is experience in litigation and/or investigations
  • An ability to get up to speed quickly on matters and to shift focus/direction with competing deadlines
  • A keen interest to broaden their own knowledge/understanding and share updates with the team; proactively horizon scanning, reading the accountancy news/press, identifying potential opportunities and drafting marketing content and literature
  • Someone who is ambitious and excited by the prospect of working closely with the partners to help grow the reputation of the team and firm
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and drafting skills
  • Honesty, integrity and professionalism
