Purpose of job: To run own caseload to assist the partners in the Regulatory Advisory and Defence (“RAD”) team in the provision of services to the firm’s clients. Kingsley Napley acts for a number of regulated organisations and individuals who seek advice in relation to regulation, regulatory and disciplinary proceedings and other inquiries of them by regulators. This work includes defending clients in a disciplinary or regulatory context. RAD also provides a small amount of advice to regulators on their regulatory schemes.
The successful candidate will see a broad spectrum of work, and it would be advantageous to have knowledge/experience of healthcare regulation – specifically investigations involving the GMC, CQC and NHS England, and knowledge/experience of advising students in respect of investigations in the independent and higher education sector.
- Client onboarding
- Considering papers received on instruction
- Providing an analysis of the issues and evidence required
- Drafting advice and submissions
- Attending meetings with clients, Counsel and others
- Preparing witness statements
- Preparing legal documents
- Instructing expert witnesses and Counsel
- Preparing matters for disciplinary hearings including using relevant case management systems
- Supervision of Paralegals
- Assisting in the marketing and business development of the team
- Compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations and where appropriate the BSB Handbook
