We’re looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to join our Finance team and take ownership of day‑to‑day financial operations, reporting, and leadership across multiple disciplines. This is a broad, varied and exciting role, which has arisen due to an internal promotion and is ideal for a confident Finance Manager ready to take the step up, or an experienced Financial Controller seeking greater scope and influence.
You’ll lead a high‑performing team across Management Accounts, Revenue Control, Cashiers and Partnership Accounts, and will work closely with the Head of Finance and Finance Director to manage the day‑to‑day and drive process improvement, automation, and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary finance team (with 5 direct reports) in a collaborative, friendly and high‑performance culture.
- Oversee management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting and audit processes; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SRA audit and financial controls.
- Drive automation and process improvement to free up people for more analysis and business partnering.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Finance, IT and People & Culture to implement system enhancements and optimise workflows.
- Provide commercial insight and proactive stakeholder engagement across the firm.
- A qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in a similar role within a legal or professional services environment.
- Senior level experience overseeing multiple finance disciplines.
- Proven people‑leadership, mentoring and coaching skills with a caring approach to team development.
- Commercial awareness, proactive stakeholder engagement and a mindset for innovation, process optimisation and system improvement.
